Membership and Venue Info

Welcome to the home of the Mentone Masters [in the southeast of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia] - one of many venues for the enjoyment of Victorian Masters athletes [ie, anyone over 30 years old who is interested in race walking or running - but traditionally women over 35 and men over 40].

  • We meet regularly every Wednesday evening throughout the year; rain hail or shine [even on holidays].
  • Events start at 7:00 pm - please allow time before this for your stretching and warmup routines - you'll soon get to know when your events are likely to be run during the evening.
  • Events are conducted for race walkers [400m to 5km] and runners - sprint, middle distance and distance [50m to 10km] each evening.

  • The form of walking and running events varies - from closest to estimated time, closest to estimated distance, standard handicap, age graded, devil-take-the-hindmost [huh?], to, yes, a straight-forward open race. All, as relaxing or as serious as you want to make it.
  • We walk and run on the track, on the surrounding roads, and on a combination of both surfaces.
  • Evenings conclude with a reading of results [including notable feats of members at various venues and events throughout the previous week], and a light supper - all before 9:00 pm.
  • There is a $3.00 fee each evening to cover venue costs. An occasional donation of cash or kind for supper is apppreciated.
  • A moderate annual fee of $35 is payable to Victorian Masters Athletics Inc.
