With the running of the 10km Cross Country Championship at Collingwood venue on Sunday June 3rd, scoring in the Browne Shield competitions is taking shape. In the teams section Knox increased their lead thanks to a strong overall performance and are now 36 pts clear of Aberfeldie who moved into 2nd place with Collingwood 7 pts behind in third. It was good to see Mentone, East Burwood and Coburg being represented though overall numbers were similar to last year.

In the individual sections Lavinia Petrie has established a 33 pts lead over Petrina Trowbridge who is another 17 pts clear of Heather Gaunt in 3rd place. The men’s section is much closer with Ernie Stewart moving into first place by 4 pts from Steven Barker of Springvale followed closely by Peter Black, Tony Dell and former winner Paul Twining. In the individual section it is the runners best 4 performances that count for points so results can change right up until the last event as we saw happen a couple of years ago.
