What is Masters Athletics?

Masters Athletics offers fitness, fun and fellowship across a range of athletic activities for men and women aged 30 and over. Victoria boasts a membership of over a thousand, whilst the total for all Australian state clubs is over 3,500.

Everyone, from beginner to elite is welcome. Standards and performances are recorded in five-year age groups. Age-graded events are especially popular, encouraging and rewarding improvement and fitness gained through the years.

The philosophy of the Masters movement is PARTICIPATION

Can I try it first?
  • Yes you can try competition at any of our Venues for 3 weeks Free.
  • You just need to fill in a Trial form so you are covered by our insurance

What is Venue Competition?
  • Venue Competition is a fun weekly competition run by each of our venues.
  • Competitions vary week to week and include sprints, middle, long distance events and jumps and throws.
  • You can choose to do lots of events or just a few.

What are VMA Championships?
  • The VMA offers members the opportunity to compete in a range of Championship events such at the Track & Field Championships or the 10km Championships.
  • Members compete in 5 year age groups eg Women’s 45-49 or Men’s 60 – 64
  • These events are an opportunity for members to achieve personal bests and win medals in their age groups.

Do I have to be fit or good at running?

No Masters Athletics has something for every level of fitness

Is the competition serious?
  • Venue competition is generally about enjoyment and personal bests
  • Championships events the competition becomes more serious

Is there social activities?

Yes every Venue runs regular social events

Is there training/coaching available?

Yes each venue will offer a range of training and coaching for members

Is there social running groups?

Each Venue has running groups who go for regular runs together
