An ATFCA Workshop – Mentone 21 June, Keilor 28 June
The Australian Track & Field Coaches Association (ATFCA), through their senior presenter, Bryan Neighbour, is producing and presenting an outstanding two sessions of High Jump Coaching on Friday evenings – one to be held in the Mentone Athletic Club rooms in Mentone on 21st June, the other in the Keilor Clubrooms a week later.
Attendees will be presented with coaching techniques for primary school beginners through to the elite high jump athlete, and will be able to take home sufficient high quality reference material to keep you informed and improving for months, if not years.
If you are a competing high jump athlete, a jumps coach or a potential jumps coach, a PE teacher or non-PE teacher interested in assisting at athletics, an athletics official, a helper at sports events, or ‘just’ an interested spectator or parent (or active grandparent), this is your chance to enhance your understanding: of the high jump event, of the development of a high jump athlete, and of athletics events in general.
ATFCA (Vic) encourages coaches and potential coaches particularly from Little Athletics Victoria, Athletics Victoria, VMA, and schools to attend to enhance their specialisation and continue their professional development.
So what’s in this workshop for you?
This is what we will do!
• We will cover teaching / coaching / conditioning, from basics to advanced performances in the high jump
• Teach methods of high jump instruction from Australia, USA, Russia, Central America, Canada
• Provide teaching variations
• Help you understand the bio-mechanics involved in high jumping
• Provide extensive visual material for you! So if possible, bring your own laptop or similar device to copy videos, eg, for competitions, teaching methods, background music, etc, from a USB drive. Remember – bring a laptop or similar.
