There has been a change of policy regarding entries for the Victorian Masters Athletics feature event The Landy Trophy – registered members of Athletics Victoria will be eligible to enter this year for the first time.

The only restrictions are that entrants must be more than 30 years of age and sign an insurance disclaimer before competing. For those who wish to continue competition with VMA or compete in the Victorian Masters’ Championships in March, membership forms will be available on the night.

The Landy Trophy is a heats and final event run from age-graded handicaps and will be conducted at Doncaster on the evening of Monday, February 18, starting at 7.15pm. Entries close on February 4.

All runners, male and female, are required to run a 200 metre heat and a 1000 metre heat with the top points scorers going into the finals over 400 metres. All events are held on the one night from handicaps calculated from the internationally recognised Age-Graded Percentage Scale, which makes allowance for age and gender.

The Landy Trophy was first run in 2000 and has become recognised as the most prestigious single event run in Australian Masters’ athletics and over the years has attracted entries from all over Australia and a smattering from overseas. John Landy, Australian athletics icon and former Governor of Victoria, will again be in attendance to present the trophies.
