With the running of the 8k Cross Country event the points tables in The Browne Shield competitions are starting to take shape though it is still a bit early to read much into the scores in the men’s division. The age percentages are based on the factors for a road race so scores are always lower in the cross country event and as it is the best four scores for the season that count in the individual competitions anyone who runs all five events usually drops their score from the CC.

Having said that I am prepared to stick my neck out and say that Lavinia Petrie is likely to win the women’s division provided that she completes two more races. In the men’s division Gary Stewart has opened up a very handy 8pts lead at the top of the table with just over 1 point separating the next four places. However there are five other runners who could figure in the final result if they run all three remaining races so things can change as we have seen in recent years.

In the Inter Venue section all five races count and Knox continued to move ahead of the others whilst Aberfeldie and Collingwood are locked in a battle for 2nd place. Croydon are doing well having been fully represented in both races whereas Glen Eira suffered by only having two runners in the 10k track.
