Event entry general Information
- Location: “Tom Kelly” 8/10 lane synthetic Doncaster Athletics Track (Google Maps)
- Event is open to all athletes aged 30 years and over. Competition is in 5-year age groups for women & men, starting at ages 30-34.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: Event Entry Cost: last year this event recorded a loss of just over $10,000. Rising costs generally, but in particular a near doubling of the cost of Officials – something we were not notified of until after our entries had opened – all contributed to this loss. VMA is proud to say that we pay officials at ALL of our events. Fees for this year’s VMA State Championships therefore have had to be increased. We also continue to be challenged by ensuring that all Helper’s duties are covered. This year we will be requesting all athletes to either nominate themselves or a family member to help or pay a fee to fund paid helpers to cover the shortfall in volunteers. Despite these changes the VMA State Championships remain the lowest cost event (and the biggest in numbers!) of its type in Australia, which is in-line with VMA’s goal of being the lowest cost State/Territory in Australia for masters’ athletics generally. We also have the highest membership of any State/Territory, topping 1,200 members this year for the first time in over 10 years – which is a great endorsement of the interest in our weekly competition Venues and our 30+ Events.
- 2025 Entry fees will be:-
- $15 entry fee per event/5th event free;
- $20 admin fee (to help to offset the increased costs of officials’;
- An additional $10 Helper’s fee, to cover the cost of paid helpers, where an athlete (or a friend/family member) is unable to assist as a volunteer helper for 2 hours. (Refer to page 4 of this event entry for explanation about this).
- Interstate and overseas athletes are also welcome to enter “by invitation”.
- Only athletes who are affiliated with a Masters Athletics body are eligible to compete. Victorian athletes MUST ensure that they are a current (2026) VMA member first before entering. NOTE: the reason for requiring VMA membership for all is that part of membership fees are used to subsidize the low entry cost for this event.
- Medal placings for top three place getters in each age group of each event will be awarded to all Victorian athletes. Likewise, medals also to be awarded to athletes competing “by invitation”
- Entrants required to enter estimated time/distance/height for events. NOTE: please do this in the correct format, as indicated.
- All Victorian athletes are to wear the (i) athletics top of their Masters Hub or Masters Venue or “home track”; (ii) if an athlete has neither of these then any top of a colour that is close to any of those in (i) will do. NOTE: The VMA top is not to be worn, as this is a VMA not an AMA event. An exception to this is the Throwers who do not have their own competition top.
- Please also support the following VMA’s sponsors for this event!! Liberty Finance, Runners Paradise, Captain Snooze, Peak Timing, Kieser, Bunnings.
