At the 2015 VMA 3000m Track Championship, held at Duncan Mackinnon Reserve on Sunday 19 Apr 15, there was a record number of entries ( 41 ).
We held two divisions with the slower runners running first. The 3000m results show a healthy range of ages and abilities.
A newcomer from Doncaster, Heather Marasco W40 had a battle out front all the way with George Rennie M70 ( Collingwood ), but George’s experience saw him first over the line in 12:32.7 ( M73 Age-Graded 83.1% ).
The second race was a tussle between Grant Simpson M45 ( Geelong ), the M40 Shane Draper ( Aberfeldie ) and another newcomer Michael Bishop ( Mentone ). In the last lap Shane outsprinted Grant and Michael to take out the race in 9:53.4.
Susi Wilson W45 ( Knox ) was the fastest Female in 11:24.3 followed closely by Stacey Van Dueren W55 ( Coburg ) in 11:36.4 ( W57 Age-Graded 92.7% ).
In the first race Pam Mews W80 ( Mentone ) established a New Victorian record with a time of 30:06.5
The rain held off all day but the wind was very strong, especially during the second race.
