With the results of the Eric Greaves 10km Road Race now incorporated into the overall figures we have a clearer picture of points standings in the Men’s division of the Browne Shield competition. Gary Stewart of Knox has extended his lead over his immediate rivals by a few points and provided that he completes at least one of the two remaining races then he should finish ahead of them. But (There’s nearly always a but) there is still a chance that Trevor Kelly from Bendigo and possibly Ewen Wilson of Glen Eira who have both done two races could make up the deficit in the remaining two races so the contest is still very evenly poised except to say that “runs on the board” are always useful.
In the Women’s section Lavinia Petrie continues to dominate though it was great to see Bronwen Cardy back running so strongly again (92.79%). Also Helen Stanley did well to top 80% and good to see ladies from several venues competing.
In the venues section Knox continues to power on though there were some strong performances by other venues as well. Aberfeldie topped 240pts which is a very solid achievement and Southern Peninsula in their first appearance for the year scored a very creditable 221.39.
