AV-VMA team members excel over winter AV XCR series

The AV half marathon held on the boulevard at Burnley brought the individual rounds of the AV XCR to a conclusion. It is pleasing to see that members running for VMA polled well in the age categories.

Steve Quirk took the title of Champion athlete in the 50-54 age group with quality performances throughout the winter. Peter Cowell was nudged out of 3rd spot by 1 point in the same age group. Peter is going onto run the Melbourne Marathon (his first) we wish him luck and good running.

In the 60+ age group Ewen Wilson came in a close 2nd to X-olympian Chris Wardlaw. Charles Chambers was polling well with a win and a second prior to injury putting him out for most of the season.

In the women’s divisions in the 55+ section members running in the VMA colours did excellently with Helen Stanley coming equal second running consistently all season. She came either 2nd or 3rd in all events with Jeanne Bryan taking out 5th overall. Bronwyn Cardy coming back from injury won the last 2 races of the season in the age group. What will she do if she can put a full season together.

Linda Black running 2/3rds of the events collected 8th spot in the 50-54 age group.

We are now waiting on the final results from AV for the teams competition which came to a conclusion with the Tan relays on Saturday 20/9. Rumour has it the we did very well. We will keep you posted.
